Vintage Correspondence Course Ads
posted by Mark on January 25th, 2010Before the Internet, people who didn’t have the time or money to attend in-person classes used to learn long distance through something called “the mail.” Correspondence courses that shipped reading materials, audio tapes and sometimes even video reels to eager students exploded during the prosperous post-World War II era, as people saw an exciting world full of economic opportunity in a variety of fields. Here’s a gallery of some of the correspondence courses advertised in magazines and comic books from the ’40s to the early ’80s, many of which aren’t all that different from the common learning opportunities you can find online nowadays.
